Navis Engineering Upgrades Geo Ocean V to DP2 with NavDP4000 DP control system
Navis Engineering has successfully completed the installation and commissioning of its NavDP4000 DP2 dynamic positioning control system on the multi-purpose support vessel Geo Ocean V, operated by offshore survey company GEOxyz, as part of the vessel’s DP upgrade project.
GEO OCEAN V is a multi-disciplined Offshore Survey Vessel fitted for Geophysical and Geotechnical survey work. The 53.8-meter vessel is now equipped with Navis’s advanced DP2 technology, enabling precise station-keeping during complex offshore operations and significantly improving safety and reliability during subsea survey work.
The upgrade to a DP2-class system was implemented to enhance positioning accuracy and operational safety during demanding offshore survey activities. With full redundancy, the NavDP4000 system ensures the vessel can maintain position automatically even in the event of a single component failure. This capability is critical for high-precision subsea operations.
The successful commissioning on Geo Ocean V marks another step in the growing partnership between Navis Engineering and GEOxyz.
Throughout the project, the client highlighted the strong commitment and technical expertise demonstrated by the Navis service team.
Bart Brinckman, Marine Assets Manager at GEOxyz, commented:
We are extremely happy with the services of Navis Engineering so far, and especially with the commitment and technical support of the service team.
Increasing Demand for Reliable DP2 Solutions
The upgrade of Geo Ocean V to the NavDP4000 DP2 system reflects the increasing demand for reliable and high-precision dynamic positioning solutions in offshore survey operations. Navis Engineering remains committed to supporting vessel operators worldwide with advanced DP technology and professional service.
The successful commissioning of Geo Ocean V further strengthens the partnership between Navis Engineering and GEOxyz, with further cooperation planned for additional vessels in the fleet. Navis Engineering appreciates the trust and excellent cooperation with GEOxyz and looks forward to continuing the partnership on future modernization projects.
