NavDP4000 onboard new-built Rijkswaterstaat vessels

2 December, 2020

We are happy to introduce successful sea trials of the third hull in series of three Multipurpose vessels built by Bijlsma Wartena SY for Rijkswaterstaat and named “Scheldestroom”. Previous two hulls named “Merwestroom” and “Waddenstroom” also has DP control system made by Navis Engineering Oy.

Together with Alphatron Marine engineers our Service team we provide remote fine tuning of the DP-1 control system installed onboard. These measures allow to avoid the restrictions caused by Covid situation and made successful commissioning and sea trials without any delays.

The vessel has unique propulsion system configuration with main Azimuth thrusters located at bow and with Pump-jet at stern which ensure high safety level during the towing operations. This Multi Purpose Vessels type could also perform fairway marking, patrolling, measuring and fishing research on one ship.

As per the information from the Bijlsma Wartena SY the design of the vessels is focused on sustainability and efficiency. The vessels are able to perform daily operations by using the energy of the set of batteries that the vessels are equipped with. Special algorithms in DP control system developed in close cooperation with Shipyard supports fuel efficiency with smart Power monitoring and blackout prevention function in all operating modes of the innovative hybrid propulsion in automatic and semi-automatic modes. The sustainable design ensures an extremely low CO2 emission compared to conventional vessels.
